What is Jaw Orthopedics?

Orthodontics corrects the disorders in the tooth sequences due to various reasons with mobile and fixed devices; Jaw orthopedics covers orthodontic treatments that correct the incompatibility of the lower and upper jaws with each other or with the face.

Today, it is possible to apply both treatments not only in children but also in adults due to the development of technology.

It is possible to correct problems such as irregular tooth rows, crowding due to lack of space, teeth settling in a different position due to various eruption disorders, by virtue of fixed devices (by attaching braces and wires) or clear plates that can be inserted and removed in milder problems.

These treatments usually take 3-4 months if there are problems involving one or two teeth, and about 18-24 months when the number of teeth is higher.

Orthopedic problems involving the jawbones, such as the upper or lower jaw being too far in front/back and the opening in the anterior region, are corrected by the use of various headgear and face masks in children. These treatments take several years.
